Boko Haram insurgents launched a brutal attack on the village of Mafa in Yobe State, killing at least 87 people, with 37 bodies recovered and transported to Babbangida General Hospital for a mass burial.

The burial, attended by Yobe State Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana and other officials, will be held at the Babangida Emir’s Palace. Reports indicate that the attack, which occurred around 4 PM as villagers returned from their farms, may have been a retaliation for previous intelligence provided by the villagers to the military.

A source confirmed, “They killed at least 87 people, and some died in the bush, beyond recovery.” The Yobe State Police and the Special Adviser on Security Matters have confirmed the incident, with military forces now deployed to restore order in the region .
