Nollywood star Destiny Etiko has expressed concern over Nigerians’ excitement about the latest season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) amidst the country’s economic challenges.
The popular reality show, which began on July 28 with the theme “No Loose Guard,” features 28 housemates paired for an engaging 10-week season. In an Instagram post, Etiko questioned the priorities of viewers, emphasizing the nation’s struggles. She wrote, “E don red for our country and I still dey see some people dey happy about BBN. Hmmmmm nawa o Oh una still get enough money for DATA Abi?”
Etiko stressed that while some might afford to watch the show, many others are struggling to survive, highlighting issues like hunger, rising crime, and insecurity. She urged that more attention be paid to the country’s problems, stating, ‘the earlier the better’.
