The Election Tribunal, chaired by Justice H. N. Kunaza, has nullified the election of Simon Atigwe, who represented the Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency in Enugu State. The tribunal declared Dennis Agbo of the Labour Party as the rightful winner of the rerun election held in February.

Dennis Agbo, a former banker, had challenged Atigwe’s victory, citing “incorrect result tabulation and significant non-compliance with the Electoral Law 2022.” The tribunal found merit in his petition and instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return from Atigwe and issue it to Agbo instead.

Agbo’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ogenyi, confirmed the ruling, noting, “The tribunal declared that Dennis Agbo secured 23,221 votes, while Simon Atigwe received 21,863 votes.”
