Former goalkeeper of the Super Falcons, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, has passed away after bravely fighting cancer for nearly eight years.

The Nigerian Football Federation confirmed her demise via their official account, expressing sadness and offering condolences to her family. Aluko-Olaseni, known for her skillful goalkeeping, was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 while playing for Rivers Angels in the Nigerian Women’s Premier League.

Despite undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, she was forced to retire from football due to her ailment. She had been seeking financial support for her treatment, highlighting the challenges faced by athletes battling serious illnesses.
