President Bola Tinubu has reportedly offered Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), an ambassadorial role in any African country to shield him from his ongoing corruption trial.

However, Ganduje allegedly rejected the offer, expressing discontent and claiming the charges are baseless. He was quoted saying, “Is this the way the president will reward my loyalty? Besides, I am too old to go for an ambassadorial posting.”

Sources suggest Ganduje is lobbying to retain his current position, with Morocco being his preferred choice if forced to accept a diplomatic role. Ganduje’s spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, confirmed the President’s approval for the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for September 12, 2024, but was unaware of the ambassadorial offer.
