Governor Alex Otti and his wife, along with the Deputy Speaker and some Special Assistants, attended the Sunday service at the House on the Rock Church Aba, today,15th October, 2023. The governor returned like the Biblical leper to express his unalloyed gratitude to God for seeing him through in the 2023 elections as he promised the church that he would return during his campaign. The Governor also appreciated the pastor in charge, Rev Anny, for his unwavering commitment to truth. He declared his newfound affiliation with HOTR as his church of choice. Otti emphasized that no one should face persecution for holding different political views, citing the example of Afara prison, where some were allegedly imprisoned for criticizing the government. He personally intervened to secure their release. He assured the congregation that more road repairs are on the horizon and promised good governance for Abia State. During the service, Rev. Anny Ikebudu, the pastor in charge of HOTR, Aba, delivered a compelling sermon. He drew the attention of the Governor to the dire state of the town, with issues like poor roads and moribund factories that are struggling to survive, lack of facilities for tourism, entertainment and big events. The pastor in his instructive and thought provoking sermon, stressed the need for revitalization as people are gradually leaving town. He did not also leave out the deplorable condition of schools in Aba even as the church renders aids to school children by providing them with School bags, books, shoes from time to time etc. Before his sermon, Pastor Anny rendered his unquantifiable appreciation to God for Governor Otti’s election victory in 2023. The church offered prayers for God’s wisdom upon the governor for continued good works, divine guidance, and above all for His Hands to rest upon the state.
