Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho has formally petitioned UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the establishment of a Yoruba nation. Representing Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, leader of the Yoruba Nation movement, Igboho’s petition calls for UK intervention in their independence efforts.

His spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, announced the delivery of the petition, stating, “At exactly 14:00 hrs, Dr. Chief Sunday Igboho delivered a petition to the UK Prime Minister.” Igboho has remained a key figure in this movement, notably resisting pressure from the Nigerian government, which allegedly offered him significant financial incentives to abandon his cause during his detention in the Benin Republic.

Akintoye previously claimed that such attempts to sway Igboho highlight the ongoing struggle for Yoruba self-determination.
