In response to the submission of his 25-page petition for a sovereign Yoruba nation to the UK Prime Minister, Sunday Igboho, a prominent Yoruba Nation activist, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He criticized attempts to intimidate British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery, asserting that the British government’s historical role in Nigeria justifies their involvement in the petition.

Igboho emphasized, “The amalgamation of Northern and Southern protectorate in 1914 was the making of British government… we have the inalienable rights after 100 years of amalgamation to opt out.” He expressed that the petition aims to ensure the UK serves as a witness at the United Nations regarding their demands.

Igboho assured supporters, stating, “We will not be cowed or deterred by the antics of the Federal Government… our continued agitation for Yoruba nation will not be stopped.” He concluded that summoning Montgomery will not halt their movement, reaffirming their commitment to peaceful advocacy for Yoruba sovereignty.
