The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly decided to initiate a service withdrawal and shut down of Imo State, beginning at midnight on Tuesday. This decision was made during their Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting. They have called for all workers and affiliates to comply with this action, with flights, fuel supplies, electricity, and public and private sector work being halted. If their demands remain unmet, they plan to expand the service withdrawal nationwide on November 14, 2023. This action is in response to various issues, including unpaid salaries, the labeling of workers as ghost workers, violence against union leaders, and interference with workers’ democratic processes by the Imo State Government.
