Bank and electricity workers in Nigeria have joined an indefinite strike led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The strike, initiated in protest of an assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero, has gained support from various unions, including the National Union of Electricity Employees and the National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees. The strike is expected to continue until the government addresses the concerns raised, with affiliated unions complying with the National Executive Council’s resolutions. The situation raises the prospect of blackouts and a shortage of Naira due to widespread participation in the strike.
