A man was arrested in Awka for killing a monkey, a sacred animal in the village.
Despite living there for 24 years and being aware of the cultural prohibition against killing monkeys, he set a trap in the bush, hoping to catch other bush meat but ended up catching a monkey. He begged for mercy and was spared by the indigenes, who agreed to appease the local deity to avoid any consequences.
