Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has introduced a remarkable initiative—an affordable palliative market aimed at alleviating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal and the prevailing economic hardship.

The recent launch on November 26, 2023, provided church members with a unique opportunity to purchase essential goods at heavily subsidized rates. At this event, members could obtain items like a bag of Garri, originally priced at N16,000, for just N1,000, while three tubers of Yam, valued at N10,000, were sold for N3,000. Other items included a bag of beans for N3,000, Turkey for N17,000, Poundo Yam and Semovita for N5,000 and N2,000 respectively, and a bag of rice for N3,000, among others.

This initiative follows Primate Ayodele’s tradition of monthly free food distributions to support the church community. Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s ineffective palliative efforts, Primate Ayodele criticized their deceptive methods, labeling them as deceitful, corrupt, and fraudulent. He emphasized that besides aiding society, his goal is to demonstrate to the government how to genuinely assist the people, believing they’ve missed the mark in addressing the prevalent hunger and economic difficulties.
