On October 1, 2024, thousands of Nigerians participated in the #FearlessInOctober protest in Abuja, voicing their frustration over the economic difficulties under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Protesters chanted “We are hungry” and displayed banners with messages like “Bad Governance has ended the dreams of Nigerian youths, end it now” and “Enough is Enough – Revolution Now.”

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who initiated the protests, emphasized the urgent need to address widespread hardships, stating, “I cannot be silent… in the face of the sufferings.” He highlighted that protest is a fundamental right and vowed to persist until their demands are met, despite his previous imprisonments under the APC government.
