The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared his unwavering commitment to the ongoing power struggle against Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State. The feud between Wike and his predecessor, Fubara, has escalated to the point where the Rivers State House of Assembly is initiating impeachment proceedings against Fubara, who is no longer in favor with Wike. Speaker of the Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, a Wike ally, along with other House members, has spearheaded this impeachment process. In a meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike, alongside governors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), made it clear that the battle would persist, even if it results in extreme consequences. Wike expressed his resolve, stating, “You know I will not back down. If it takes heaven to come down for resolution, so be it. Threats will not deter me.”These tensions persist despite reports of President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to mediate in the crisis. The ongoing impeachment proceedings have created chaos in Rivers State, with party supporters staging protests in the capital city, Port-Harcourt.
