The Nigerian Senate officially acknowledges Kogi State as an oil-producing state, granting it entitlement to the constitutional 13% derivation since October 2022.

This recognition follows Senator Jibrin Isah’s presentation, affirming Kogi’s oil-producing status and refuting claims made by Senator Tony Nwoye. The decision was prompted by a bill seeking to include Anambra as an oil-producing state, which was declined amid contention among senators.
