Omoyele Sowore has pledged to spearhead the August protests against the Tinubu administration.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), assured the Presidency that the protest against bad governance will proceed. Sowore dismissed accusations from the presidency that Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, was behind the planned protest as “nonsense from a failing regime.”

President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, accused Obi of orchestrating the protests because his supporters were unhappy with the 2023 election results.

Sowore clarified that the August protest is driven by Nigerians, not Obi. He criticized Onanuga’s claims as fear-mongering. “Nigerians are fed up with the deceit, corruption, wickedness, and incompetence of the ruling class,” Sowore stated on his social media handle. “There’s no stopping an idea whose time has come. Nigerians are ready to act from everywhere,” he added.
