Former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba emphasized the collective role of Yoruba leadership in the election of President Bola Tinubu, stating, “Bola didn’t make himself the President of Nigeria; we did.”
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress South West Zone Assembly in Lagos, he urged support for Tinubu, highlighting a pivotal 2007 meeting where regional leaders decided to elevate him to national politics after his governorship in Lagos.
Osoba reflected on the Yoruba people’s historical struggles for leadership, mentioning their support for figures like Chief Obafemi Awolowo and MKO Abiola, whose aspirations were thwarted. “Many of us here today worked tirelessly…but we thank God that some of us are still alive to witness Bola Tinubu’s success,” he remarked.
He called for acceptance of any shortcomings in Tinubu’s leadership, asserting that he would serve another four years as a Yoruba leader. The assembly’s message underscored a united front in backing Tinubu’s presidency amid ongoing challenges.
