Scores of youths from the Ekpan community in Delta State disrupted operations at Chevron Nigeria Limited on Monday, protesting the lack of local employment opportunities.

Chanting and displaying placards, they claimed Chevron ignored the Local Content Act, which mandates hiring from host communities. The protest left many workers stranded, highlighting the community’s demand for fair employment practices.

The demonstrators circled the company’s fence, emphasizing that their community has always been peaceful towards Chevron and other businesses in the area. Some protesters argued that Chevron’s actions were undermining local development and called for immediate action to address their grievances. The protest began early in the morning, catching the company off guard and causing significant operational disruptions.
