Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam, a 24-year-old Nigerian, has recently assumed the position of board chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), sparking diverse reactions on social media among Nigerians. FERMA is an organization responsible for road construction, enhancement, and inter-state connectivity. Operating under the Federal Ministry of Works, its primary mission is to oversee and manage road maintenance, striving to keep all federal roads in optimal condition.Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made the announcement on Friday, highlighting the appointment of this 24-year-old, a first-class graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University. Notably, Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam, a politician, successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in August 2022.Reactions to President Tinubu’s decision have been mixed, with some Nigerians commending the appointment, while others are expressing criticism across various social media platforms. Those who oppose the appointment argue that the newly appointed board chairman lacks the requisite experience and expertise to lead a strategic organization, while those in favor suggest that the young man will acquire valuable experience on the job.
