Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has advised citizens against joining nationwide cost-of-living protests planned for August 1, calling them the work of “sinister” individuals exploiting the country’s economic difficulties.

The planned protests are inspired by recent demonstrations in Kenya, where President William Ruto faced calls for resignation after meeting key demands from protesters.

Similarly, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned against protests, accusing demonstrators of attempting to undermine his government.

President Tinubu’s warning comes amid widespread frustration over rising living costs and economic challenges in Nigeria.

Authorities are on high alert, and the situation remains tense as the protest date approaches.
