The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to a reduced minimum wage demand of ₦100,000, down from an initial ₦494,000.

The unions faced criticism for the original proposal, deemed unrealistic. The decision comes as the unions suspend their nationwide strike, giving the federal government a week to finalize the new minimum wage.

President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Finance Minister to present cost implications within two days. Labour leaders remain firm on rejecting minimal increments, seeking a realistic wage amid current inflationary measures.
