Nigerian rapper, Phyno, has demonstrated his commitment to respecting the intellectual property of fellow artists by paying a substantial amount for sampling a classic song.

Phyno recently visited Princess Njideka Okeke and her husband, Gozie Okeke, to obtain permission to sample their 2002 hit song, “Akanchawa.” Initially, the Okekes requested 3 million naira for the sample, but Phyno surprised them by paying 15 million naira in cash.

This gesture has earned Phyno widespread admiration from the music community and fans alike. By paying more than requested, Phyno demonstrated his appreciation for the Okekes’ contribution to Nigerian music and his commitment to supporting the industry’s legends.
