The Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked Wad Alnoura village in Gezira State on Wednesday, killing at least 100 people, according to local activists.

This attack adds to a series of assaults by the RSF on villages since their takeover of Wad Madani in December. Communication blackouts have hindered independent verification of the death toll. The Wad Madani Resistance Committee described the attack as a “genocide,” accusing the RSF of using heavy artillery against civilians and causing mass displacement. Despite calls for help, the Sudanese army did not respond.

The army-aligned Transitional Sovereign Council condemned the attack, labeling it a systematic assault on civilians. The RSF acknowledged attacking military bases but did not confirm civilian casualties. The ongoing conflict has raised concerns from United Nations agencies about an imminent risk of famine in Sudan.
