A dramatic and violent scene unfolded in a Nairobi courtroom when a senior police officer shot and injured Makadara Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti after she canceled the bail of his wife.
The chief inspector, enraged by the ruling, opened fire during the session, injuring the magistrate. Other officers responded swiftly, fatally shooting the assailant.
Three officers were injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment along with the magistrate. The judiciary has announced plans to enhance court security and assured the safety of judicial staff. Investigations are ongoing.
