In response to the educational disruptions caused by the ongoing civil war in Sudan, Somalia is providing university scholarships to Sudanese students affected by the conflict. The initiative, highlighted by Save the Children, indicates that “most schools are now closed” and many have been repurposed for military use, as armed groups occupy them.

The scholarship program will offer 30 fully funded bachelor’s degree positions at Somali universities, focusing on fields such as public health, economics, veterinary medicine, agriculture, Islamic studies, and law. This initiative not only assists the affected students but also seeks to strengthen bilateral ties, aiming to deepen relations between the two countries during this crisis.
