The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has agreed to join a government of national unity with the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA).

IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa announced this decision in Durban, emphasizing the need for political parties to find common ground following the ANC’s loss of its majority in recent elections. The ANC received about 40% of the vote, the DA 22%, and the IFP 4%. This coalition aims to ensure a stable government as the new parliament prepares to be sworn in, with the ANC seeking to keep Cyril Ramaphosa as president.
