On September 26, 2024, Sudan’s military launched a significant offensive to regain control of strategic parts of Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Utilizing airstrikes and heavy artillery, this marks the most aggressive action by the army since the conflict began 17 months ago. Fierce battles erupted near the Nile, especially in Bahri, with witnesses reporting heavy explosions.

While the army claimed progress by crossing vital bridges, the RSF insisted they had successfully repelled the attack. Meanwhile, in Darfur, the humanitarian crisis worsens, with accusations of ethnic violence by the RSF. Negotiation efforts have so far failed, intensifying the conflict’s impact on civilians.
