Two Indian nationals, recruited by the Russian army, have been killed in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Indian foreign ministry has called on Russian authorities to repatriate the bodies and urged the immediate release of all Indians serving with the Russian forces. Reports indicate that many Indians were lured into joining the Russian military under false pretenses, including promises of money and citizenship. The Indian government has warned its citizens against seeking employment in Russia. Earlier, four suspected human traffickers were arrested in India for allegedly coercing young men into joining the conflict.

Despite these developments, India has not condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine, continuing to advocate for a diplomatic resolution. Neighboring countries Nepal and Sri Lanka have also reported similar issues, with significant casualties among their nationals fighting for Russia.
