Ukraine has confirmed the destruction of a second bridge in Russia’s Kursk region, specifically across the River Seym. This marks the second attack within a few days as part of Ukraine’s ongoing cross-border offensive that began on August 6. The recent strike follows an earlier attack on a bridge in Glushkovo, both aimed at severing key Russian supply routes.
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, sharing footage of the strike, stated, “Minus one more bridge,” underscoring the precision of their operations. President Zelenskyy praised the military’s actions, stressing that these efforts are crucial to “destroying Russian war potential” and maximizing Ukraine’s counteroffensive capabilities.
Pro-Kremlin bloggers and Russia’s Mash news site reported that only one bridge remains intact in the region, which could severely hamper Russia’s ability to resupply its forces and evacuate civilians. As Russia continues its offensive in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, Zelenskyy has urged Ukraine’s allies to lift restrictions on using Western weapons to target deeper into Russian territory, including Kursk. This development has bolstered Ukrainian morale, with military chief Oleksandr Syrskii claiming significant advances, though these have yet to be independently verified.
