Zambia’s Chief Justice, Dr. Mumba Malila, has been evacuated to South Africa for specialized medical care following a road traffic accident on August 30th, 2024. The Chief Justice suffered a fractured leg in the accident and is currently receiving treatment, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Information and Media. Officials have reported that Dr. Malila remains in high spirits and has expressed gratitude for the public’s prayers and well-wishes.

The accident occurred on Friday evening, but the Chief Justice’s driver, Mr. Newton Njovu, emerged unscathed and is reported to be in good health. The government assured the public that it would continue to provide updates on Dr. Malila’s condition as necessary.

Dr. Malila’s evacuation underscores the severity of his injuries and the need for specialized care. The incident has prompted widespread concern, with many Zambians sending messages of support and hoping for the Chief Justice’s swift recovery.
