British Foreign Secretary, Lord Cameron, has criticized the recent election in Russia, denouncing it as undemocratic due to President Vladimir Putin’s consolidation of power by stifling opposition.

Preliminary results revealed Putin’s landslide victory with nearly 88% of the vote, extending his rule for another six-year term. The election, marked by the absence of serious challengers who had either been disqualified or silenced, lacked independent monitoring, with the OSCE not invited to observe.

Cameron condemned the election in a tweet, stating, “This is not what free and fair elections look like,” citing the restricted choice for voters and the lack of independent oversight.
