A heavy rainstorm overnight wreaked havoc on the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, resulting in the escape of 118 inmates.

The downpour caused extensive damage to the facility’s infrastructure, including breaching the perimeter fence. Efforts are underway to recapture the escaped inmates, with 10 already apprehended. The Nigerian Correctional Service is working with other security agencies to address the situation.

Authorities assure the public that the situation is under control, emphasizing the need for modernizing aging prison facilities.
