The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused him of involvement in a N4 billion fraud.

Obiano faced nine counts of money laundering during his tenure as governor. He pleaded not guilty, and despite the EFCC’s request for custody, the court granted bail, scheduling the trial to commence on March 4. The charges include alleged money laundering, corruption, and theft, with specific instances of fund transfers for purposes unrelated to the state’s security affairs. Obiano denies all charges.
