Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt as his residence in Abuna, Abuja, was engulfed in flames in the early hours of Wednesday.

The LP alleged that the fire was a deliberate act aimed at Abure’s life. Abure and his family were trapped inside the burning house but managed to escape with the help of neighbours and security personnel.

They were later rushed to a private hospital for treatment, with their condition reported as stable. The incident comes amidst a leadership crisis within the Labour Party, with calls for Abure’s removal as National Chairman by the Nigerian Labour Congress.
