Naziru Idris Ya’u, a journalist associated with Abubakar Rimi Television station (ARTV) and stationed at the Kano State Government House, narrowly escaped a potentially fatal encounter when a stray bullet struck his shoulder.

The unfortunate event unfolded shortly after his return from an assignment with Governor Abba Yusuf at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Despite sustaining a minor injury, Ya’u was promptly attended to at the Government House Clinic and discharged, with medical personnel noting the fortunate circumstance that the bullet was not fired from close range.

Prompted by the incident, authorities initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of the time of reporting, official statements from the Kano Government House are awaited, while the Kano State Police Command indicated that the incident had not yet been formally reported.
