The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, publicly called on the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to cooperate with ongoing investigations by submitting himself to the EFCC for probing alleged corrupt practices during his tenure.

This appeal comes amid heightened drama surrounding efforts to arrest Bello, with recent attempts by the EFCC being thwarted. Fagbemi expressed concern over the reported use of immunity by the current Kogi Governor, Ahmed Ododo, to block Bello’s arrest, labeling such actions as counterproductive to justice and transparency. He emphasized the EFCC’s legal authority to summon any Nigerian for questioning and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law.
