The National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) of Zambia has announced a significant milestone in its fight against financial crimes, revealing the recovery of $30.9 million in forfeitures from multiple high-profile cases over the past month.

Among those implicated in these cases are former KCM provisional liquidator Milingo Lungu, Adel Micheal Botros, and other parties involved in the gold scam at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, among others.

According to NPA Public Relations Officer Chali Hambayi, these cases span diverse areas and involve mostly foreign nationals.

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Gilbert Phiri successfully secured forfeitures totaling $1.8 million, along with 32,000 Euros, 8,139 British pounds, and K 1,320.

In a separate development, the Authority revealed that the state has released the chartered plane implicated in the gold scam to its rightful owners.

This decision follows a third-party claim presented at the Lusaka High Court, supported by documentary proof of ownership.

The successful recovery of funds and assets underscores Zambia’s commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring accountability within its borders.

The NPA’s efforts to prosecute individuals involved in illicit activities demonstrate a proactive approach to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the country’s financial integrity.
